NNPP Offers Obi Vice Presidential Ticket - The Nation  The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is offering former Anambra State governor Peter Obi the ticket of running mate to the National Leader of the party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, The Nation has learnt. The party is discussing with several lawmakers and aspirants from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), who feel unhappy with the processes of their primaries. A source within the party told The Nation that while the party was willing to give him the position of vice president, his followers are insisting on the presidential ticket, with Kwankwaso serving as his running mate. The source, however, said the zoning of the presidential ticket of the APC and the PDP would determine the final decision of the NNPP. Oba Adejugbe, who said turbanisation activities would never be entertained in the palace since it was against the tradition in Ado Ekiti kingdom, said that the palace had only planned to install one Abdul Yusuf as the Asiwaju of Hausa in Ado community billed for June. BREAKING:  ALAAFIN OF OYO JOINS ANCESTORS AT 83 Sources from the Ancient Palace of Oyo town say, the highly revered monarch, Alaafin  Lamidi Adeyemi III has confirmed the demise of the Iku Baba Yeye.  Alaafin Adeyemi, the third from the Alowodu Ruling House, died in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. Alaafin Adeyemi III was born Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi on October 15, 1938 into the Alowolodu Royal House, and as a member of the House of Oranmiyan to Raji Adeniran Adeyemi (born 1871), who later became Alaafin in 1945, and Ibironke of Epo-Gingin. NAMES FACILITY AFTER OYEBANJI All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly aspirant for Ado Constituency 1 in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodeji Adegbite, has donated an Information and Communications Technology Centre (ICT) Centre to Mary Hill Boys' High School, Ado Ekiti. Mr. Adegbite who sponsored the project in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, Patent Pathways International, said the project was aimed at boosting the capacity of the students in digital education and giving them an incentive to do better in their studies. Former Super Eagles forward Daniel Amokachi says the the glory days of the team will not return unless football administrators fix the major defects in the country’s football system. The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after their early exit from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in January. Interim technical adviser Augustine Eguavoen and his assistants were disengaged by the Nigeria Football Federation in the aftermath of the team’s to qualify for Qatar 2022. The NFF announced new assistant coaches for the team on Thursday with the position of head coach still vacant. Veteran highlife singer Orlando Julius is dead. Bimbo Esho of the Evergreen Music Company Limited confirmed the death of the 79-year-old highlife singer. The deceased’s wife, Lady Latoya, also confirmed the incidenent.  Orlando Julius, a native of Ijebu Ijesha, was one of Nigeria’s fathers of Afro/Highlife music and a fine saxophonist. In her eulogy while announcing Orlando Julius’ death, Esho wrote: “Bimbo Daddy has passed On… “This was the message I stumbled on waking up at exactly 3am to peruse my WhatsApp page.. It was a message sent in to me by Orlando Julius beautiful and supportive wife Lady Latoya. “Orlando Julius a native of Ijebu Ijesha succumbed to the cold hands of death and breathed his last few hours ago at the age of 79.
