A DIAMOND IN THE BAR: ADO SONS AND DAUGHTERS SALUTE AARE AFE BABALOLA

The umbrella body of all Ado-Ekiti sons and daughters both home and diaspora under the aegis of Ado-Ekiti Progressive Union (APU), has congratulated the celebrated legal giant, a global philanthropist of repute and founder, Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), on the occasion of his 60 years in the legal profession. 
In a goodwill message signed by the National General Secretary of Ado Progressive Union, Prince Toyin Akingbade, on Monday, congratulated Are Babalola for witnessing a successful 60 years in the law corridor. 

The Union described Aare Afe Babalola as a man who is truly blessed by God, who also devotes his time, energy and resources to improving the lives of many as well as bringing development to Ado- Ekiti, the State and Nigeria in general.

APU noted that, it is a notorious fact that Awolowo has played his part and has gone to join the saints triumphant, but his re-incarnate, Baba AFE, has stepped into his shoes by virtue of the gigantic strides he took by establishing ABUAD to change the face of education in Nigeria and bring back its lost glory in education and for which he had been commended nationally and globally by education stakeholders including UNESCO. 
The Union also commended Afe Babalola's giant strides in the fields of Medicine, Agriculture and Law and saluted his visionary leadership, patriotism and generosity of spirit, which made him a father figure to the black race. 

“On behalf of the good people of Ado-Ekiti and the sovereign head of Ado Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, CON. JP, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, we join other numerous admirers across the world to celebrate our highly revered father and pray for God’s protection, divine health and nourishment as he continues to serve humanity", the statement added.

Fuel Subsidy Removal: Palliatives can’t cure our pains- Akingbade

A Nation Building Crusader and Public Affairs Analyst, Prince Toyin Akingbade has faulted the palliative measures put in place by Federal government to bolster the consequence of the removal of fuel subsidy on the people, saying it was a wrong strategy. He said that the savings from the fuel subsidy should be evenly distributed to benefit all citizens irrespective of their class because everybody gets the heat of the subsidy removal.  Akingbade noted that the first step to be taken by the government to cushion the effects of subsidy removal was to crash the cost of governance.
